The 2026 edition of Decibel Open Air, scheduled to take place in Florence from September 4 to 6, has been cancelled.

The organisers announced the decision yesterday through the festival’s official channels, describing it as a difficult choice made after a long period of efforts, evaluations and attempts to guarantee the event.

According to the official statement, the festival has faced significant challenges in recent years since 2023, when unexpected and restrictive bans on alcohol sales imposed by the Prefect of Florence, have had a major economic impact on the event.

Despite those difficulties, the organisers continued to produce subsequent editions, with the support of the city of Florence, which they describe as a partner that believed in the project.

The festival continued its journey through the following years with what the organisers describe as sacrifice, passion and absolute dedication.

For 2026, however, the situation has become increasingly difficult as Decibel says that the current evolution of the events sector, combined with the increasing of production costs, has made it impossible to guarantee the conditions required to deliver the festival at the artistic, technological standards that have always defined the Decibel brand.

With the strategic assets and resources considered essential to maintaining those standards no longer available, the organisers have therefore decided not to proceed with the 2026 edition.

The cancellation comes only a few weeks before the festival was due to take place and represents a significant development for Italy’s electronic music scene.

Decibel Open Air has established itself as one of the country’s major electronic music festivals, attracting international artists and audiences to Florence.

The announcement also highlights the growing economic and production challenges facing the live music industry, as festivals and promoters deal with rising costs and increasingly complex conditions for delivering large-scale events.

As for tickets, Decibel Open Air has announced that all information regarding refund procedures will be communicated through its official channels starting September 1.
