Amsterdam Dance Event 2026 will open its cultural programme with an unexpected meeting of classical ballet, hip-hop dance, electronic music and digital art.
On 21 October, Gashouder Amsterdam will host Swan Lake Remixed for ADE, a one-off production by Dutch National Ballet and ISH Dance Collective as part of the 30 YEARS ADE Icon Series.
One of the most iconic ballets ever created is brought into a contemporary setting, exploring themes of longing, freedom, temptation and the tension between darkness and light through a combination of classical ballet, hip-hop and electronic music.
The production brings together 35 dancers from Dutch National Ballet and its Junior Company, performers from ISH Dance Collective and five guest dancers from different dance backgrounds.
Direction comes from Ernst Meisner, director of Dutch National Ballet and Marco Gerris, artistic director of ISH Dance Collective, with music composed by Rik Ronner.
Lighting and video design are by Ben Kreukniet, while Oliver Haller is responsible for the costume design.
Swan Lake Remixed for ADE marks the first collaboration on this scale between Amsterdam Dance Event, Gashouder, Dutch National Ballet, ISH Dance Collective and XSAGA, bringing together five different creative worlds around one of the most celebrated works in dance history.
The production also arrives ahead of several significant milestones because the iconic Swan Lake will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2027, while Dutch National Ballet and ISH Dance Collective will mark ten years of collaboration and XSAGA will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The performance is part of ADE’s 30 YEARS ADE Icon Series, a cultural programme created to reflect on the history and future of electronic music culture through exceptional collaborations and encounters between different generations and artistic disciplines.
Swan Lake Remixed for ADE takes place on Wednesday 21 October at 19:00, with doors opening at 18:00.
The performance will run for approximately one hour, with tickets priced at €54 including service fee.
