Martin Garrix Named World’s No. 1 DJ for the Fifth Time in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs Poll

The DJ Mag Awards ceremony returned to the Johan Cruyff Arena this year after a three-year break, where Garrix was officially crowned the world’s No. 1 DJ securing his fifth No. 1 spot in DJ Mag’s prestigious Top 100 DJs poll.

This achievement ties him with fellow Dutch legend Armin van Buuren for the most wins in the poll’s history. Since his first win in 2016, Garrix has been a fixture in the top five every year, an impressive feat for an artist still in his twenties.

This year, Garrix edged out David Guetta, who held the title for three of the past four years, as well as the ever-consistent Belgian duo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who have dominated the top five for over a decade.

Reflecting on his win, Garrix expressed his admiration for his peers: “I’m in the list with all my idols — Armin, Tiësto, these are the guys I’ve looked up to. To be up there with them feels surreal,” he shared with DJ Mag.

“When I first topped the list, my biggest concern was that it could only go downhill from there, so it’s incredible to be back at No. 1.”

2024 has been a remarkable year for Garrix in many ways.

One standout moment came at Glastonbury, where Coldplay performed a cover of his track ‘Breakaway’ — an honor that left Garrix in awe. “I got a text from Chris Martin saying he loved the song. I couldn’t believe it! They still perform it during their stadium shows. It’s an amazing feeling and a step toward hopefully collaborating with him in the future.”

The summer also saw Garrix dominate Ibiza with his residency at Ushuaïa, marking his seventh year at the iconic venue.

Italian DJs in the 2024 Poll

Italy continues to make waves in the electronic music scene with several strong entries in this year’s DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll. Leading the charge is Anyma, the new entry at 17th, making him the highest-ranking Italian DJ in 2024.

The trio Meduza, known for their global hits “Piece of Your Heart” and “Paradise,” secured a spot at 100th.

Another fresh face in the rankings is Giuseppe Ottaviani, who debuted at 98th. Meanwhile, techno sensation Deborah De Luca placed 58th, dropping 12 spots from last year, and the dynamic duo VINAI landed at 52nd, continuing their strong presence in the poll.

This year’s poll also crowned the top DJs in various genres.

Armin van Buuren remains the reigning king of trance, once again securing the title of the #1 Trance DJ. Belgian powerhouse Charlotte de Witte clinched her fifth consecutive win as the #1 Techno DJ, solidifying her dominance in the genre.

On the house music front, Australian DJ Fisher took the title of Best House DJ, celebrating a year of global success.
